Re: Riding - Mountain/Road for health & hobby info request

How are the craftworx wheels going Noel? I'm bored so thought I would do some research and desktop analysis on the B2GC and Ipswich 100 (mile). B2GC profile: 2014B2GC.JPG Ipswich 100 profile: Ipswich.JPG B2GC is interesting in that it is almost literally all down hill (especially once you're past Mt...

Re: Riding - Mountain/Road for health & hobby info request

Thanks for the followup Noel. Interesting to see that a) your Shimano's weighed in correctly (all of mine have always been over), and b) that the Craftworx front is heavier but the rear is lighter.

Re: Riding - Mountain/Road for health & hobby info request

The aero wheels get a bit of momentum up, so once you're cruising they act like a big flywheel. There's no doubt that a lighter wheel is snappier on the climbs though. Cross winds with a deep dish would not be an issue with your weight. I've got lots of thoughts about these craftworx, would you mind...

Re: Riding - Mountain/Road for health & hobby info request

Some wheels will get more spokes to make them stronger, but its not like a road wheel takes the regular punishment dished out on a MTB.

Re: Riding - Mountain/Road for health & hobby info request

Shame to hear about the Shimano's Noel, between myself and friends we've put 100,000+ kays on Shimano wheels and never had a problem (which wasn't caused by a truck, gutter, etc). That includes guys who are over 100kg's. I'll be interested to hear how you go with the Craftworx, handbuilt wheels can ...

Nice wheel ash, though you could have just saved yourself some money on low profile rims ;)

Re: Tarmac Rally

Forgot to mention that a guy brought down his McLaren P1 to act as the fast sweep 999 car. He used it as an opportunity to drive it legally on public roads, rather than doing cheeky dealer plates runs down to the coffee shop on a Sunday morning. Technically its not road legal in Australia. Its super...

Re: Tarmac Rally

Full stage in car: Queenstown - Known as '99 bends', the road out of Queenstown is iconic on the west coast of Tasmania. This is the stage before the Viper expired. dybDhD_PD-0 Cygnet - This is one of the stages on the last day, and this pace is probably 8.5 or 9/10ths. Me waving at 2.30 is to my fa...

Re: Tarmac Rally

The road order moves around during the day depending on who stops when and where for fuel, take helmets off, etc. TBH I was surprised at how courteous they were in letting us past on the road too. That said though, we could have had them penalised for blocking us, so it was in their own best interes...

Re: Tarmac Rally

Faith in the drivers ability is a huge thing - I feel safer in this car doing these sort of speeds than in some previous cars doing under 200kph, merely because I know that a) he listens, and b) he will drive to what he hears. Watch launch #8 from 2min 30sec, these cars are pretty well sorted ;) A5D...

Re: Tarmac Rally

Thanks everyone. Ash - that corner in question was one of those things where you plan it out, literally step it out on foot, look at it again and again - and whilst you know you can do it... When you come out the other side it is such a rush. Similar video to the earlier one, but with some incar thr...

Re: Tarmac Rally

Really looking forward to Targa Tas next year! So this happened on the weekend... 20160416_045446250_iOS.jpg Against a fairly aggressive Dodge Viper we managed to hold on for 6 days and take out the win at the 25th Anniversary Targa Tasmania! Ash asked for this on FB, so here is (hopefully) a quick...

Re: What has made/ruined you're day (whinge/happy thread)

Nice little car Ash. I'm very interested to know a) what happened, and b) how VW will fix it. Jokes aside, this is why I wont buy a VW. For every person I hear who loves theirs (tipper) there's at least someone who has broken down, needs a new gearbox or two (seriously) or has some flaw which in thi...
