2003 Impreza RS

Posting up here to see if there is any interest. My parents have moved on from the above mentioned car. It's silver, manual, and has 250,000 kays. Mechanically its been very well cared for, but cosmetically it has spent a few too many nights outside for my liking. Let me know if you're interested. L...

Re: Cloud Storage

Just finished moving my backups from Amazon Glacier to Microsoft Onedrive. It's cheaper, and the change from iinet ADSL to Optus Cable has meant that that migration has been completed without having to stretch the uploads out over 3-4 months (only 20 odd days with Optus). Pick where I moved to cable...

Re: Riding - Mountain/Road for health & hobby info request

That shimano device looks awesome, and coming from a shimano flight deck (which to this day is still one of the only bike computers which shows gear position) it will be a mandatory thing to have when I eventually go Di2 (or whatever the wireless version is). What average do you currently achieve on...

Re: Riding - Mountain/Road for health & hobby info request

Nice work Noel. 32km with 730 of elevation is very respectable!

I find that group rides offer far more motivation to a) get out and b) do more when I am out because it becomes a social activity as much as exercise.

Did you see sram's wireless groupset?

One thing I don't miss about the mountain bike was the frequency of scrapes. Beats infrequent big stacks though :P

How's the roadie going Noel?

Re: Apple TV

After a little research, it seems you run the ATV's DNS server settings to the machine running plex. Seeing as though I am running US DNS servers for US Netflix, won't this effect my US Netflix, or will the ATV still access the Internet through my PC, which uses the routers already modified DNS set...

Yep, just pull up airplay and it works fine. The plex app then becomes the remote whilst the video goes to the appletv.

Re: Apple TV

You can make plex work on AppleTV without jail breaking it. I have it running on an ATV3 and the wife loves it.

Pretty sure you can stream from plex app to a standard AppleTV anyway, will check tonight.

Re: Welcome to Windows 10

The graphics issue is an interesting one in that my computer has been running flawlessly since it was built in 2011. Then I realise it was built in 2011 - the same year I had an iPhone 4.

Hardware moves on.

Official call from Intel - Intel HD 2000 graphics are not supported in Windows 10. Time to upgrade!

Add to the list - CF card not recognised.

TBH - It still feels like a pre-release version.

Re: Welcome to Windows 10

I used the media creation tool too, and after a big of frigging around (resizing recovery partition eventually did it) everything worked. Same deal for ash's link, failed install. Had to tune a few things after installing, most notably the correct language so that shift '2' gave me an @ symbol and n...

Re: USB packaging for client's digital photos

Thanks for the insight. The alternative shots is an interesting point, of the pro's I've spoken to the clients favourite photo from a shoot never matches the pro's - its good to give the client options it would seem. I'd like to give LR more time as I've seen that its much faster to batch process, b...

Re: USB packaging for client's digital photos

I'm not going against your USB (entirely), but if you're going to back it up to the cloud anyway, then why not leverage this to your clients? Same goes for my comments about work flow and client relations, use this meeting (post-wedding, picture/album run through) to get your classic delivery mechan...

Re: USB packaging for client's digital photos

So like where the photos are online and they can order prints from that site? Or they're online in a personal website? Online on somewhere like onedrive. You can share a private link with security (log in with email address), or just a private link which anyone can see without authentication. It wo...

Re: USB packaging for client's digital photos

Cloud delivery makes no sense.

Cloud access to the photos after you've done all the in-person delivery, album, etc is what I was referring to.

Re: USB packaging for client's digital photos

Great idea, I would be looking to get the cost of the usb stick and deliver down to sub $30 if you're going to be including the cost in your packages. Above that, I see it as an expensive marketing tool/value add when a) a couple chose you for your photography skills first, b) it is not something th...
