2004 BA MKII XT Falcon

Post by MY04BA » Sun 24 May, 2009 7:25 pm

Hello All,

Just realised I haven't made a thread for this as yet so i thought I may as well.

It's a 2004 BA MKII XT in Offshore Metallic Blue and there's not alot done to it. Main focus for the car now is to get it set up for SQ comps and see how it goes.

Sound system includes:
Headunit: Alpine CDA-9887
Front Speakers: Alpine Type-X Reference
Front Speaker Amp: Alpine MRP-F300
Rears: Factory
Subwoofer: Alpine Type-S 12"
Subwoofer Amp: Clarion 400W Shitter soon to be upgrade to Alpine Monoblock

What needs Doing:
Adjust Time Alignment
Adjust the tweeter pods
Wire in rear speakers
Dynamat doors and boot

Futre plans:
Bigger Rims
Slowly upgrade audio gear
CAPA Flash tuner
CAI

Thats about it really. Oh and I placed 9th in the MEA SQ Round 1 comp at Northfield Capalaba and really learnt alot and the advice i've been given i can now hopefully get the car sounding even sweeter.

Not to mention a HUGE thanks goes to my brother Rob for all his time and patience and man hours that went into getting the sound system in and tuned for me. I really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Yeah it was relatively easy compared to everything else. like all you gotta do is unplug the 3 plugs at the bottom and some screws and it comes straight out. You jjust cant drop it or turn it upside down or they say to throw it out

How does it work now with having installed the alpine deck. Does the factory stuff still work? Thought it was all integrated so you couldnt disconnect it?

Does look like it was a huge job! Was it the ash tray that you removed to be able to fit the alpine deck in?

All the factory stuff will still work all i'd need to do is re wire the front speakers and it'd be right to go.

It was a huge pain in the ass of a job but we managed to get most of it in and tuned in 1 weekend. with the exception of swapping the headunit over which was relatively simple. All we had to remove to get the headunit in was just some pocket thing that just screwed in and had no real purpose anyway.

This weekend if i have time i might attempt to connect the rear speakers and then ask rob kindly if he can re-tune it for me at some stage =D

I didn't ask you to......

If i know how to do the time alignment i would but meh. As for the tweeter pods i'd wait for you to do them cos i have no friggin idea what to do there. Sound deadening....well you don't need to be a brain surgeon to do that....cover all the holes with cardboard and then dynamat over it.

Bit of an update...

Due to unfortunate circumstances I discovered a flat tyre last Sunday morning. Thinking it was just a nail I kept driving on it and pumping it up every second day or so til I could get to a tyre shop.

Took the car in yesterday and they said the reason it's going down is you've had a heavy impact on the rim and it's cracked it. This was at Beaurepairs btw. So took the car down to Bobjane because they're Bobjane rims and not so lucky for me they've stopped producing the rims i had on it. They said they could try and repair it but risk the chance of it cracking in another 2 places.

Luckily I have an awesome dad and he lent me some money and I got some 18" Rodney Jane Racing - Champ rims in Hyper Silver fitted.

Bit of an update RE: Stereo....

Won first place in Round 3 MEASQ comp in Intermediate. Also currently sitting on top of the leaderboard for the state series and in a good position to take out State Champion for Intermediate class :D

A HUGE thanks goes to Rob (MY05VZ) for all the work he has put into the car for me because without him it wouldn't be where it is today.
