Can't wait to see how this thing goes mixing it with the victorians.

6th place... which really was pretty good when up against guys who've been doing it for 8 or 9 years.

Had a few drama's with amps too... bloody thing dropping right hand channel and shooting volume up the left hand side. Came good in time after pulling it apart 10 mins before judging.

Bit of an update.

Bought myself a new amp to replace the faulty JL. New amp is a Tru Tech S44.

Also needed new tyres and the rims were fucked so I replaced them with Ford factory G6 18"s

Looks like the end of the road for this thing.

I've had enough of fixing little things that go wrong. Nothing but problems since lowering it.

So it's time for an upgrade. If the bank says yes then i'll be going out and buying a Toyota Aurion. Stereo will be going in it of course.

Latest Update.

Sfter a few 2nd's and 3rd's this season i've bit the bullet and it was time for upgrades.

I've since Dynamatted the inner door skin to hopefully improve midbass kick, I've also made the decision to go 3-way in the front. Luckily enough I found some custom A-Pillar trims on MEA (mobile electronics australia) and scored them for $180. Next purchase was an Alpine PDX 4.100 (which it turns out I don't need). Then I needed midranges. Was tossing up between morel CDM88's or Focal, Because i'm such a Focal fanboy I managed to get some 3" midrange drivers from the KRX3 package for $180each (RRP$220ea).

Car is booked in at Northfield Capalaba on thursday to get the midranges fitted and then a re-tune.

Can't wait to hear how it sounds.

Anyway enough babbling here's some photos.

Focals running on a Tru Tech would sound pretty darn nice. Been ages since I heard a pair, the 165 K2s were very popular during my time in comps (04 to 06). From what I remember they were very bright and airy and could easily turn harsh if fed the wrong amplification.

Also, that infinity is only a 10, in a large sedan? :|

It's not the size it's how you use it :P

for a 10 it does the job extremely well. It goes rediculously low. In fact I believe it goes too low.

I believe it was a problem with the K2P's but not so much for the newer KR2 series. From memory they have a new tweeter design or something.

Al I came very close to selling but then had a long hard think about it and couldn't bring myself to selling it.

It would be a huge shame to see it go I must admit that.

I'm in the same boat at the moment myself... common sence tells me to sell the VE and get something in a wagon, the stupid bit of my brain says older looked after SS, and the logical part of the brain says BF Falcon Wagon or a 4WD.

Bit of an update. Got myself Runner-Up state champ in Advanced this year which i'm pretty happy with.

Due to unforseen & rather unfortunate circumstances the car is having an overhaul in a way. The alpine CDA-9887 is out and is already at it's new home and is being replaced with a Clarion HX-D2 (so much better, alot more SQ's) I'm also adding another amp and going active 3-way (already 3-way but not fully active) i'm tossing up between either a Butler Audio tube driver or a JL 300/2V2 (the JL is cheaper but the the Butler is a much nicer amp)

I'll also be buying better speaker cable and re-running the speaker wire and replacing battery terminals & 0 guage power wire.

My goal for 2012 is to win a few round in advanced and hopefully get state champ in advanced and go to nationals and be competitive down there.

Spotted you on the SE Freeway yesterday afternoon.

Saw you shaking your head when the dickhead in the blue lancer merged in front of you, heh :)
