New car every 2 years, bloody hell...

Didn't think there was anything wrong with your TRD Ash, unless you have racked the kays up driving to/from work.

We'll see how long this one lasts then hey :)

I agree, I thought the TRD was pretty tidy considering... the photos you had of it, looked tidy as.... and surely went alright.

Did you ever had it dyno'd?

I know you have probably written it, but i cant be bothered going back over... whats your aim with these cars you buy? Are you looking to make it some sorta track/drag/race car that you just drive on the road?

Or you wanting to get into racing it etc?

I always wanted to track my mazda, but its too old/everything would break if i gave it a good flog i reckon.

Was your main reason for moving on from the TRD cause you couldn't do a lot to it for extra power/fwd etc?

Nah nothing 'wrong' with the car at all.
Kms were on the high side of average, but thats expected considering the distance i used to travel to work and back.
Its done 60,000kms in 2 yrs.

It was a very nice car to drive. Only beef i had with it was the auto box was a dog.
Apart from that it was a great car.

I had it dynod and from memory it was 248hp at the wheels.

Every car i owned had different aims and goals.
Rolla - first car, so never really had any aims or goals
Wrx - wanted it to handle really well and look the way i pictured in my head.
Euro - just a nice cruiser.
Silvia - drag car. Didnt matter to me that it looked like a pig as long as it was fast in a straight line.
Trd - cruiser with power.
Xr6t - no idea yet. Probably a faster than average road car.

You hit the nail on the head about the main reason of selling the trd.
Anything a wanted to get modded had to be custom made and very expensive.

ive owned 13 cars over 10 years. some were owned at the same times as others. it wasnt until the end (S13 drfit car, Patrol, Liberty) That i was in the $10k region, in which all were owned for 12-18months. best car for me was the liberty. such a fantasic built car, handled great (ok silvia would have smashed it when i had the good tyres on it) but it was seriously under powered. Next car, im going subaru again. the ae92 is a shittipper to drive to work and back so i can save some cash.

now rash, i hear you about the TRD. but would you really want anymore power from the front wheels of that thing? Youll find the ford will a totally different car to drive hard. and with a few simple power mods, and few suspension mods, it will be alot faster than the TRD everywhere. and still drive quietly, comfortably and not all ovre the road (yes that was a dig again :P)

Good buy, cant wait to see you hang the arse out... :P

I do like the colour you chose dude....lots :)

Mum's new Jazz VTi-S is a similar blue and really pops when the sun hits it.

Metallic paint?

I'm gunna change the tone of this thread. I like the colour. I just don't like it on this shape XR. Since launch I've hated this colour on the FG.

Having said that. I think I'm a little jealous. Heh. This was gunna be my next car. But circumstances changed so I went for a cheap car to own and run.

Can't wait to see some mire pics after you get it. I wanna see the interior.

I'll post up better ones that my mate took for me once he uploads them... Once again, I forgot my tripod, so I had to use objects around me. Lol
First time using flickr. So hopefully these pics can be seen by you guys. Lol

Well unless you work on saturdays, thats not gonna happen anytime soon. Lol

Ill have to take a day off for that.

Meanwhile, someone that knows fgs can hopefully answer this for me.
The boot release button on the key doesnt seem to open the boot. The indicators flash, but the boot doesnt open. :?
im wondering if im not doing it right.
Gotta go back to the dealer on tuesday to get the leather interior put in, so ill ask them then, but just curious if anyone knew if there was a trick to it. Lol

It is a electronic button under the ford badge, stick you head under there and you will see a grey panel about 2 inches long with a bump in the middle. PRESS

Get your number plates re-done in a different colour, will make the whole car look a bit sharper.

Cant wait to see the rest of the shots of the interior.

the button on the key fob might just unlock the boot by itself rather than every door on the car.
camo means mogg, and mogg means business

cam: yeah, i'm trying to figure out a colour combo that will work... i cant think of any that would suit... :? open to suggestions.. :D

dan: now that you said that, i think you might be right... cause when you press the button it unlocks the boot but the car doors are still locked..
question is though, why do you need that option?
if you're unlocking the boot, then surely you'd want to open it at the same time.. no?
i cant think of any situation where you'd want to unlock the boot and not open it...

meanwhile, 500 odd kms later and here are my first impressions after driving the car..

1) its surprisingly fuel economical (for a performance car!)... i'm getting roughly the same ltr/100km as the trd was getting... so pretty happy about that. :)
2) its soooooo tail happy around corners its not even funny... the amount of times i've had it sideways cause i keep driving it like a fwd car, its just not funny...
need to stop powering out of corners too early...
3) gear changes and the sound it makes is epic... i get wood every time!
4) seats are so much more comfortable than the trd
5) the throttle slams shut when you take your foot off the gas... its pretty annoying as its quite harsh... like, you actually get a jolt when you back off... i'll get used to it though.. :D
6) need to free up the intake cause the spooling sound on this would be insane if you could hear it any better...
