Fair call, I agree. I love the muscle car aspect of the C63. I think the M3 would be a better car to track and would be better composed at the limit. Cant beat the note and rawness of the C63.

I took my R to Willowbank last night and had 4 runs. First run was the best of 13.48 which I am pretty happy with, a 13.2 or 13.3 would have been nicer and a TTS which has the same drivetrain ran a flat 13 so I know there is more in it.

Car has a stage 1 tune, different to yours Noel, but should produce similar results.

Does the new S3 have the same drivetrain as well?

For about $2k I should be able to break into the 12's comfortably - dump pipe, cold air and tune.

S3 is $72k driveway. Not really that much more than a Golf R. But I saw an S3 sedan in white the other day. Holy fuck it was a nice car!

Depends on options though, my car was$66k in 2011 (I didn't buy new though), new R is probably cheaper with the same options. S3 is probably $80k plus with the same spec.

I know a few people with S3s. No one paid $72K, even with the performance pack or whatever its called. Was under $60K for non pp dsg.

70k range you'd almost hold out for an A45 AMG....

If you were patient that is. Although a 12 second Golf is probably just as quick if not quicker.

Just asked Google, apparently stock those AMGs can pull a 12.75

You reckon? Shit I'd have one in half a second. But would not put ugly looking matte black rims on it. Needs silver or chrome to properly set it off.

I would avoid buying a car based on chrome wheels alone. That's how much I hate them. Lol

The shape of the A45 I don't find at all unattractive. But with 19 or is it 20in matte black spike rims it just ruins it. That style belongs on a sedan not a hot hatch.

Couldn't agree more. A-Class is all about the numbers (volume selling/market presence/cash grab), and whilst the electronic magic in the new C is supposedly straight out of the S, it looks more limp than a Red Corolla Seca which has faded so much that a teenage girl likes the shade of pink on it. For the record I have trouble telling the CLA/new C apart.

E63 Estate has for a while been the car I would take given the choice. The fact that its got the 5.5l (430kw/800nm) engine over the C's new 4l (350kw/700nm) is just icing on the cake.
