Jeep

Post by Evan » Wed 23 Nov, 2011 4:36 pm

This is my 1992 Jeep YJ. Its the 4.0L 6 cyl. My girlfriend bought it for me for my 30th birthday. The colour is.. eh.. but it runs well, the rust isn't too bad and its fun to drive.

It has a lift kit, and aftermarket rims with weird ass tires (31x10.5R15's).

Mods I've done so far:

Removed the carpet (it stunk)
Put in a Sony head unit (can't remember the model, it works with my iPhone)
Fitted a Thule Spare Me bike carrier & Snowboard rack

Next.. I'm looking for a set of decent snow tires without paying the earth. Dunno what else holds for its future..

Love it.

Also the fact that these days mods are determined by connectivity to an iphone (looks at noel and his R), whereas 5 years ago it would have been 'OMG I just installed a Sony xplod xmhdy-484593r with kicker amp model blah that I sourced from the us and I'm the 3rd person in australia to have one'.

well the long and short of it is this.. i've always said i wanted to get personalized plates here that are the same as the ones i have back home. to do that you need a car - you can't just buy the plates, they need to be bought against a car. so anyway, she bought the car so she could get me the plates.

keep in mind, older cars over here are stupidly cheap. still totally gobsmacked when she gave me the key and ushered me into our parking garage.

yup! the same ones. the only problem is, if they ever go 'missing' or get 'stolen' then they can never be used ever again.

likewise, if i want to keep them forever - i need to pay an annual fee. if i don't pay the annual fee, they are cancelled and i need to return the plates. they then become available for the next man whore.

jeep saw its first patch of ice road last night too. not fun. was only in a car park - but its no fun when you loose all braking and steering. need snow/ice tires.

dude ice tyres (you're not an american, tyre is spelt with a y!) are just normal tyres with little steel spikes in them. if you got a little box of nails and gently tapped them into your normal tyres then you'd turn them into ice tyres for free!

it's totally worth a go............

At least of the ice driving if nothing else!
I just don't know if people like me. I know when they don't like me 'cause they'll say things like, 'Yeah, that's him, officer.'
