Monthly test theme - Feb

Post by iano » Sat 19 Feb, 2011 6:11 pm

Ok I know Feb only has about a week left, but I haven't taken anything recently and thought we'd do a test run with the monthly theme idea.

Keyword: SURROUNDINGS

This idea is as broad as it is simple. You must submit a photo taken within a 500m radius of your front door.

That's it :)

It can be anything, and any theme.

I'll start

Palm trees in our courtyard offering nice privacy and sound barrier from the street. Only problem is they create a ton of litter....

It's one of those 3D pics, you have to look THROUGH it

I'm not a photo buff but I reckon the topic was too vague.

I reckon pick something specific and see how creative people can get in capturing it.
Ie a bus. Must be some aspect of the bus, doesn't matter how abstract.

I've been too preoccupied with organising my wedding every weekend to get the camera out tbh... :?

Will try and think of a better topic, agree that was a bit vague...

I aswell am too busy to head out for a purpose trip to take photos. Heck...I've only ever used my camera half a dozen times in the last 12 months, if that.

But here's an idea.. take a photo of something in your house. Indoor domestic photo. Have that for a photo comp?

Not my cup of tea. That's hardly being creative. In fact it's being very lazy. Will post new theme topic soon.

Cup of tea or not, if it means people firing up the camera to do something, id go with it. If it were an around the house theme, id probably even have a go.
I just don't know if people like me. I know when they don't like me 'cause they'll say things like, 'Yeah, that's him, officer.'

Creativity is defined by constraints. Someone can come up with a creative photo of something in their house. Not everything has to be on a walkabout.

It's the difference between getting no replies, and kick-starting the idea of a regular theme.

Maybe a good in-between stance is having a topic which could be shot either outside, or at home. Maybe 'daily-life'? Could shoot your walk to work, or a cup of coffee. :D

Precisely. For christs sake it could be a shoe, the purpose is to elicit the creativity in the photographer.

Bingo. The monthly theme is designed to get people shooting and enjoying photography, not to fish through old shots, or to go out and copy someone else's photo's. Right iano?
