Yeah i use VLC player every now for playing stuff. It goes good. I have been running plex on my win 7 htpc & android devices for the last 2-3years. Easy to setup downloads covers and synopsis of stuff much like netflix interface.

Can be watching something on the htpc then u need to do a shit so u can pause the tv and resume on the phone while snapping one off in the thunderbox.

Ps. The foxtel thing is the only reason I still have my iPad. Just in case I need it. Go won't work on my phone because it ain't Samsung.

Yah plex is nice CO but the last time I used it you needed to be a bit organised with your files otherwise it wouldn't find things. This es player thing is really simple which I like.

The foxtel thing is fucking fucked g!!! Especially at this time of year. What a bunch of useless cuntrags!! Can you get around it by rooting your OS??

Not sure re: rooting + foxtel go - I don't run foxtel. If i ever do it will be thru the htpc anyway.

Haven't rooted an android for years... a bit of rooting around to do it from what I gather. I read something a while back about rooted androids not being particularly secure especially if you're using netbanking etc .

I do doubt it. Foxtel is pretty fucking clever with these things. I had all sorts trying to keep ahead of the game with my jail broken iPad. (It won't run on a jail broken device, but I needed it to be jb so that I could play on the tv)
I'd presume they're on the ball with android as well.
That, and I've rooted two android phones, and bricked the last. No more fiddling for me.
I've got a Samsung tab for go, which I actually use occasionally. The iPad only gets out when we go camping and I wanna stream sport. Which I will be doing for the RWC and nrl gf next weekend.

Not following all this tech talk but I do share sentiment that being televised sport in any broadcast format is COMPLETELY FUCKED in this country. It's either a dead set rip off, or a massive inconvenience.
This isn't life, it's just stuff. And it's become more important to you than living. Well, honey, that's just nuts

I just use a desktop streamer for viewing movies and even, foxtel thru the pc app. Splashtop has been, the single most used app I have ever purchased.

Not for everyone but its handy for me.

Was gonna suggest ES File Explorer. Not sure what ES Player is, but I used to use the File Explorer with VLC app installed all the time and was flawless.

Last time I went camping I bought a half price boost SIM card (only Telstra coverage where we were) and took the Samsung tab and my iPad. Tethered iPad to the tablet and connected the sound to my portable DAB stereo. People looked at me a bit strange, but once the footy started, there were a few blokes at the camp looking fairly jealous of our setup.
Ftr, streaming 3 games only used up <2gb.

just realised that i can use the NRL and AFL apps to live-stream those games for free (signup for trial period then cancel), and the foxtel app (on the fucking laptop because android is for shmucks) for the RWC game. sorrrrrrted. will probably also take inverter/tv to make it biggerer.

glad to hear 3 games was less than 2gb, at least i won't slay my monthly data cap. good idea with taking the portable speaker to improve the neighbors jealousy levels. they are going to love my quade cooper "compliments" at 2am.

I'd rather have diarrhoea than have quade in my team.
His no look pass for a try last night just pissed me off. If there's one thing more annoying than Jamie soward kicking it's watching Cooper and his arm in the sling style. Wanker.

Yeah only Samsung and iPhone last I checked.
Won't run on rooted or jail broken phones either, unless you find a way to mask the phone's state (which I was doing with iPad and iPhone until they kept doing updates to patch the exploit)
