20+ metre cat5 cable

Needs RJ45s at each end.

Anyone have one lying round not being used? I'll buy you a nice 6 pack.

Pretty sure this would be 20m however I don't want to sell it. If you just needed to borrow for a while (free) that'll be ok but if you are hard wiring it then I'd prefer to keep it.

It's cat6 too

I just don't know if people like me. I know when they don't like me 'cause they'll say things like, 'Yeah, that's him, officer.'

Appreciate the offer mate but it's going to be more or less a permanent bandaid fix.

My old blokes wifi setup is to use two strong words: fucking rooted.

His office has a back to base remote monitored home alarm system signal box on the wall and it has a pair of antennae poking out of it. I am entirely convinced this is wrecking havoc with his reception as a speed test came back with 2mbps when he should be getting close to 30.

Only option to stop the connection flapping about is an physical cable. Or to relocate the whole office upstairs which of course he doesn't want to do.

I use EoP. Have used it in 2 houses now and it's does what I need it to do. I haven't run a speed test on it though as I only have it connected to the xbox and the playstations.

I have 3 devices. My current network setup probably isn't great. Fibre comes into house to the boxy thing from opticomm in my WIR. Goes from there into the router. 3 points come out of router into wall plate. 1 to media room, 1 to the study nook and 1 to my mancave/iracing room. Media room straight into PC from wall which is where all my media is stored. Mancave straight into PC from wall for gaming. Study nook goes from wall into a hub which I have the EoP connected to. I have another EoP device in the living room which connects to another hub which connects to an xbox and a PS3. I have a 3rd EoP device in Tylers room which connects to the PS3 in there.

20+ metre cat5 cable

I've been under a rock. Never even heard of these products but what a great idea.

It's just what he needs. He doesn't need screaming fast 30MBps although it's always nice. But the speed at the moment you can't even use Skype. Not even close!

Well Tyler watches YouTube videos on the Xbox in the living room. Plus the PS3 streams 720p videos from the pc in the media room too.

20m Cat6 - $25 - http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_li ... &sid=14480

Or EoP, but you'll be up for at least double the cost of cable, and for a fraction of the speed.

Cable if you can, EoP if you cant.

That is a good point. I would be using cable if I could. EoP is just the next best thing for me.

Fraction of the speed? I'm not after gigabit downloads but surely EoP is good for at least a steady 30-50Mbit ?
