Take Two: Nissan S13 Silvia

Post by blv » Fri 29 Dec, 2006 6:34 pm

Well bugger it, I'm going to make a project thread for this shitta, purely so i can keep my photos together etc. and as a reference to show other people too.

Well heres whats done to the beast atm

lowered it using 45mm lowered king springs front and rear, and durashock front struts designed for lowered springs. rear struts are KYB Excel-G. the ride is 10 times better than my old blue one.

i removed the rear muffler and put a canon on. It sounds really shit but thats what you get from an NA SR20

I have put tims old 16x7 and 16x8's on the thing too, which i absolutely love.

other than that, i have welded the diff up, so i can rip some awesome skids in the wet. this will be removed shortly, in favour of the R33 viscous LSD, once i get around to getting it rebuilt.

heres some pics;

the next thing im doing to the rims is getting the centres re painted gold.

and once i sell my falcon, the engine is coming out :twisted:

12 something, 300+rwhp, and something that slides very well....

its never going to hit 300rwhp with the RB25 turbo, but i wanted this one to be faster than my blue one for stage one. it has a slightly bigger cooler too, which would do next to nothing at the power levels stage one is going to be. i am aiming for 220rwhp for stage one.

another surprise here is the fact im staying auto. im getting a 3000rpm stall converter for it, and looking into shift kit options, whether i can get a kit to put through it, or tweak the settings via the ECU. either way, even with the same power level as my blue one at 202rwhp, the auto will be faster with the higher stall..

end result for motor mods are Garrett GT3071r in external waste gate configuration, rated at 500hp, a 42mm turbosmart or tial external waste gate, GTR 440cc injectors and a plug and play ECU, that does away with the AFM. if the auto cant cope with 300+rwhp, i'll go RB25 manual, with single plate clutch, and im staying with the R33 4.39:1 viscous LSD that i have sitting at work. thats it for motor and driveline.

after then, im going to look at getting a nicer front bar, that isnt a gaylord one, and maybe a set of slim skirts... i want to keep the colour as is, and i want a set of those S15 seats that i helped boods put in his GTIR... then retrim rear seat, glovebox lid and door inserts to match....

then im just going the cain it, as you would expect no less from me..... :)

i will give it a caining too! after all you owe me for all the times you have thrashed my car and all the parts that let go whilst you were driving it. this should be a fun build i dare say i will be performing some serious fabrication on this vehicle. this silvia should be slightly more appealing to the eye than the last s13. (although attractive cars have never been my interest).
37" treapys 8psi beadlocked, both lockers engaged, 43% crawler gears, td42 screaming at 4100rpm on 20psi, all i see is sky, all i hear is rocks belting the body work, suddenly the quiet pop of right front cv, we come to a stop, out with the winch cable!

nah the one off the old project shat itself within 5 mins. so i gave the compressor housing to evan (79gsr). this is a new one. not high flowed either, just a standard R33 series 1 turbo that i put the compressoer cover in the lathe at work and machined out the inlet a bit bigger.
