I would have thought so, although if the vacuum was strong enough, I cant see why it couldnt overcome the spring and open the bov on its own.
Either way the bov is plumbed, the bov is just a gate between two pipes, as long as it can still open, the air will still flow from a high pressure area (post turbo to the throttle) to a low pressure area (intake pipe from airbox).

Vent to atmo = you can hear it?
Airbox's do a great job of muffling bov's.
Sounds all sorts of fucked up. If you're having problems after changing it though, I'd change it back to the original configuration, no matter how arse about it seems.

no, because there is no air escaping the system. Even with a plumb back BOV, no air is escaping the system because its putting air after the turbo back in after the AFM, therefore its already metered air. Although, do these XR6t's have an AFM? the single cam 4 litres didnt... if it doesnt have an AFM, then it shouldnt matter a shit if it vents or not.
